I was invite to a sweet sixteen and I was wonderin if this a proper semi formal attire. Button up white shirt, slim black tie, button up vest, fitte jeans and new black vans. Is his ok and if not what is?

What is proper semi-formal attire for middle/high school?
is a skirt and polo ok? its not super semi-formal…just an awards assembly.
im guessing not because the skirt’s above the knees. If that was my only skirt, what would be some top choices that would make it seem more semi-formal?
